PAGNA OHRA B'SUCCESS FIL-BAJJA TA MARSALFORN

THE BLOOD DONER CLINIC AT MARSALFORN BAY
Sunday August 30th. 2009

After 2 months of preparation and co-ordination between Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch, the Community of Marsalforn with the help of the Marsalforn Chaplain Fr. Michael Borg and Malta Blood Donation Unit of Mater Dei, the Blood Drive organized at Calypso Hotel in Marsalforn turned out to be successful.
A total 55 donors turned out in the improvised Clinic in the centre of Menqa in Marsalforn. The majority of the donors donated blood for the first time. This means that now there are more donors added to the Blood Donors Hospital list.
A very big thanks goes to the Manager of Calypso Hotel, Mr. Joseph Muscat and Food and Beverage Manager, Mr. John Portelli for giving and preparing the premises with all what needed for the blood drive. The Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch also thanks the hotel staff for their willing collaboration.
We also like to thank Fr. Michael Borg. He gave us a lot of support and worked hard so that this Blood Drive will be a success. We hope that we can work again hand in hand in the near future.
Zebbug Local Council sponsored all the food and drinks consumed for this event, thank you very much hope that we can have more occasions to collaborate together.
Another big thanks goes to Malta & Gozo Blood Donation Unit, together we achieved a nice result and hopefully this event will be written in next year’s calendar.
And last but not least a big thanks goes to the Blood Donors, without them this event would not have been a success. All new blood donors are added to the Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch blood donor list to be contacted in future blood donation events.
I would also like to encourage those people out there who never donated blood. Maybe, at first sight it will seem painful, but it is not. Everyone who did his first step and donated blood for the first time has always returned to donated blood again. All it needs is only a little bit of extra courage. Just remember that with your donation you are saving lives, and with the extra courage you show on that day a person can continue to enjoy life. Do not leave blood donation to someone else. You can also take a part in this noble gesture
